Layer a Cake with Flavored Fillings

To take our classic vanilla or chocolate cakes up a notch, try adding a flavored filling along with the buttercream. Use jam, lemon curd, or dulce de leche to fill the layers between your baked cakes.

To do this, and still get a beautiful cake (without the filling squishing out!), we'll show you a technique in the video below of building a buttercream 'dam' to keep the filling in.
